Like in the Pacifist and Neutral Routes, he judges you– only this time he finds you guilty. Sans has become disgusted with your actions of killing everyone in the Underground, including his brother, Papyrus. It plays during the Sans fight– the Sans fight being the biggest in the Genocide Route besides maybe the Undyne fight but, unlike the Undyne fight, the Sans fight can only happen in the Genocide Route. Megalovania is fast-paced and utterly memeable– seriously, check out all the memed versions on youtube. You'll have a bad time fighting Sans, but not because of Megalovania And its place in the game is important to drive forward the plot, so Your Best Nightmare earns number 6. Your Best Nightmare isn’t the most pleasant song to listen to, but it is memorable. It’s at the lowest point of the game, the all-is-lost, your new friends are gone and your only fate appears to be an endless cycle of death and resurrection at the hands of Photoshop Flowey. During this battle, Flowey becomes a disturbing photoshop monster with a design that, compared to the rest of the game, is utterly Lovecraftian in nature. Undertale is meant to resemble old 8-bit games and the like, but it always manages to turn your expectations around on you at the most effective moments. The Photoshop Flowey battle, too, is like nothing else in the game. This song plays during the Photoshop Flowey battle at the end of a Neutral Route (which can either end as a Neutral Route or goon to become a True Pacifist Route). It’s incredibly off-putting, with an obscure melody and an atonal bassline. The songs are awkward, it’s not mixed properly, the things that are really good about the songs come in and out.Your Best Nightmare is a song that doesn’t fit in with any of the other songs in Undertale. They’re not really that bad or anything, I’ve heard worse in games with millions of plays, it just doesn’t sound like you know what you’re doing musically. Overall/TLDR - These tracks sound very unfinished, and I would not use them in the game except for CEO Newton’s Theme. You did add that little synth near the end and that was pretty cool, but you need to add drums to this one. Mix Up - For some reason reminds me on Kim Possible, but although the song is very experimental especially in its use of off beats and messing with the flow in a good way, it’s hard to listen to though because there is no drums or anything. The beginning and the end lacks the reverb that makes the track work, I think that should be throughout the entire song. It doesn’t sound a melody, it sounds like random keys being played. The Heck Lands - Very ambient, but yet again very awkward. It makes sense with what you’re trying to do. It’s very industrial, and I think that is good. It’s like a metal song in a way, just 8-bit. Also the synths are layered while they’re in the same octave makes it even more harder to listen to.ĬEO Newtons Theme - This one is better, mainly because the key does not matter as much. The song does not follow any sort of key (which songs do not have too, experimentation matters) but it creates an awkward feeling in the song that would make it harder to listen to. I really like the rhythm, I think it fits the Mario-esque mold but the actual melody and additions later on (like the snare drum) are very weird.
